PRACTITIONER WELL-BEING

What Is Well-Being and Why It Matters

Well-being is a broad and multidimensional concept that encompasses various aspects of an individual's life, including physical and mental health, positive emotional experiences, job and life satisfaction, a sense of meaningfulness, social support, positive relationships with others, safety, and prosperity.

Well-being is a crucial factor for the success and sustainability of healthcare providers and their employers. Providers with high levels of well-being are generally more engaged, motivated, and productive; less likely to be absent or leave their jobs; and have a lower risk of burnout. Employers that invest in and support the well-being of their staff will be more likely to retain talent, support patient safety and satisfaction, strengthen teamwork and collaboration, and reduce turnover.
